Kashmiri Papier-Mâché
Kashmiri Papier-Mâché is a 700-year-old craft that was introduced to the Kashmir Valley through Persian influences. The art form is known for transforming layers of paper into beautifully handcrafted objects, which are then decorated with intricate hand-painted motifs inspired by nature, including flowers, birds, Chinar leaves, and traditional Kashmiri patterns. Each piece passes through multiple stages of shaping, polishing, painting, and lacquering, making it a highly skilled and time-intensive craft. Today, it remains one of Kashmir's most celebrated artistic traditions, preserving centuries of heritage and craftsmanship.
